Project Summary

Welcome to The Home of Bass Music. UKF originated in 2009 with the creation of two influential YouTube channels, UKF Dubstep and UKF Drum & Bass, amassing a million subscribers within a year. In 2010, it expanded with the establishment of UKF Music, releasing digital compilations that marked a new era. The platform has evolved alongside changes in music consumption, earning awards for its dedication to bass music. In 2023 UKF was looking to give ukf.com a revamp to bring together the varius pillars more effectively (Editorial, Releases, Uploads, Events). This project was awarded an Awwwards Honorable Mention.

Goals and Biggest Challenges

The main goal of the UKF.com redesign was to bring a fresh, cohesive experience to a platform that serves millions of bass music fans worldwide, unifying content across editorials, music releases, and events under one strong digital identity. As both Design Lead and Project Manager, I had the exciting challenge of balancing full creative freedom with the responsibility of staying true to a well-established brand.

One of the biggest challenges was the scale: UKF.com had a massive archive of content that needed to be carefully migrated, without losing SEO value or breaking the site’s legacy performance. The redesign process took nine months and involved deep collaboration across design, development, and content teams. It was also key to maintain a clean UX while dealing with heavy content structure and traffic.

In the end, the effort paid off, the new site not only improved usability and design coherence, but also earned an Awwwards Honorable Mention, which was a proud moment for everyone involved.
